Problem with SU6 on MacBook w. GMA 950
-
Hi all!
I have a problem with SU on my MacBook. I've had the same problem since I got the laptop, and it still remains, even after ThawUp. When modeling, some edges remain invisble, unless I use X-Ray face style. As you probably can guess, this is rather irritating, and has prevented me from using my MacBook for more than really basic modelling (I usually stay at work for a few extra hours, just to good around in SU, not very good for my social life ;D)
I'm curios on wether anyone else is experiencing the same problem, and if there's a fix for it? Any suggestions are more than welcome
I've done some googling, but most articles I find relate to the hang-bug, not my problem...

have you turned hardware acceleration/fast feedback off? it can help with graphics issues. You can get to it by going file (might be edit, i havent used a mac in a long time.)->preferences->openGL

d'oh.
didn't even think about that
seems to work, thanks!

Either that, or search for ThawUp. We're looking closely at this issue. Is ANYONE who's experiencing this NOT on an Intel GMA 950 graphics card? That would include current Mac Mini, older MacBook and one old model of (white) iMac. From what we've heard, booting the same HW on Windows seems to work? Thanks, all, for your help.

Hi Barry:
I also have a macbook, and also have the same problem, where some lines dissapear, and reappear when orbiting. My workaround is to use a style that has a 1px wide straight line. I'ts a bit slower, but works. The problem does not happen in wireframe, and i believe has something to do with the way sketchup draws the polygons on screen (i remember hearing that it offseted them slightly to avoid some other bug).

hi - I'm a new user, with a macbook and a GMA950 graphics card, and experiencing both problems described. That's the 'hang bug' ( I assume that means the spirograph like trails that tools leave on the drawing pane after I've used the programme for about 15 minutes. And the disappearing edges - not quite sure what 'xray' view is, but I find I can't work in top view without edges disappearing and surfaces melding into one. Very frustrating.

Usually i work on an iMac but recently i tranferred a SU model on the MacBook with GMA 950 Graphics -> SU was unusable because of the very low Graphics performance of the MacBook.
I guess you have no other chance than working with a more powerful machine. This could be an iMac or a MacBook Pro. Maybe also the new MacBook might be worth a look because the graphics performance is up to 5 times faster (NVIDIA GeForce 9400M instead of Intel GMA 950) compared to the old MacBook.

Though your problem is surely caused because of the slow graphics performance, also notice to use enough RAM using the latest Mac OS (2GB or more provide a huge performance boost compared to the standard 1GB) -
Hi everybody,
I have the same problem with Su6 in Macbook, but the problem is not in the hardware.
My HD has a partition with Windows XP
The problem is in Su ,because when I switch to Windows everything is OK and Su works really fine.
It seems to me that this is an issue SU people should solve.MacbooK 1.83 Ghz Intel Core Duo 1.25 GB Ram

Check your XP - we turn off HW Acceleration for certain cards on PC. If that's the case, do the same for Mac.
