Hypershot Renders
-
Ibon,
I did some quick trial and error with the pool water material that is under the "other" section of the material library and got a decent result. I changed the settings as follows:
Alpha - .05
Reflectivity - .5
bumptexture tile s - 0.15
bumptexture tile t - 0.04Oh, and you're right about the mouse wheel. It's confusing at first, but I got it to adjust the perspective. Thanks!

Adam, I must say, You're the reason I've no money to spend on shopping this week! I splashed out and bought Hypershot. And I must say, it's bloody brilliant!

This looks like really promising software, would really like to see some more architectural examples though
-
Theres a few architectural shots here: http://www.bunkspeed.com/gallery/
Nice renders adam, could i ask how easy it is to setup materials?
-
Thanks Adam! I didn't see that section
Now it's quite easy make water, but it's very strange not to have to deal with IOR when making it... plastics have IOR values, but not bump slots

Here's a quick Architectural render. Model was taken from 3DWH (VaSt Architecture). I downloaded model...exploded...exported as .obj file....opened in Hypershot.....dropped in a few textures and rendered. (I also added a high pass layer and soft shadow in PS) Total time from start to finish....25 min. Tree was also added in SU and ibon's clipmap suggestions worked well. All in all, not perfectly photoreal, as this is a biased raytrace engine, but it does have a nice look and a soft feel. I'll try out some more architecture later.

That's a pretty good architectural render. Better than the ones at the website, given the time. You got more light out of it. So all the shadows in HS are soft? Does it display sun shading?
-
@geh4evr - Sorry to hear you spent your shopping money! I think you'll find it was worth it.....eating is overrated anyway. Which version did you pick up?
@Huggkruka - No worries. Good job on the quick render. Perhaps try turning on the studio lighting option or use an HDRI...it will bring your reflections to life
@Remus - Materials are very simple to setup. I'm a big VRay and Kerky user, so Hypershot is almost frustratingly simple. But I guess that's the beauty. As Ibon pointed out, some of the options for certain material types seem to defy logic, but in the end, there is no denying the stunning results.
@pbacot - Thanks! There is a button to go from soft to sharp shadows. All sun shading is based on a HDRI input, that is separate from the background image. You can easily change the direction of the lighting to match the background image, by holding down the CTRL key and moving left to right with the mouse and left mouse button. What's cool is that you can see the lighting change in real time.

Hypershot is the best but unfortunately it is not free!

Adam, I bought the HyperShot HD Version, And by shopping money, it's mainly just the money I was going to use to buy a new bumper for my car, the old ones barely hanging on, but I'll have to Duct Tape it.

Hi Adam! i have been on Vacations and i see that you have been using hypershot and have got excellent results! you are becoming an hypershot master
I have been using it again and i've got a BIG problem. I can only get clip map or opacity work when there's no a phisical ground behind models. See:
If you know how to get it work (shadows) help me please, because i can't use any people or tree in my projects! many many thanks!!!
I don't know if it's the right place to post it, if anyone wants you can move it. Sorry

Hi there Ibon! I wish I could help bro, but I'm having the same issue. I've tried everything I can think of.
It's a shame, because I am getting really nice renders otherwise. I just have to pick an HDRI or position it in a way to not display the shadows. Either that, or import the vector shape of my trees into sketchup and add the texture to that so that I get a better shadow. That would be a lot of work with all the plants and trees in my collection! Here's a shot where I had to hide the shadows.

helo guys, I have just started with hypershot, and i have got big problem using it, so I hope, that somebody can help my......The problem is, that I just cannot have more than one texture in one model.....? For example, when I have house, and I add some material on roof, than whole house is covered with this material, not just roof, and then, if I add trancusclent glass to windows, than is house trancusclent at all......? What am i doing bad?

You have to apply materials in your 3D Modelling program, in this case SketchUp. Then, if you want to apply a new material in hypershot it will change only one material, the one you choose.
