UV mapping request
-
Itd be really useful to have a 'preserve UV' button. So youd be able to map a texture, click the button then deform it to your hearts content all the while the textures staying where they were relative to the geometry.

map texture, mess it up AND keep the "layout" relative to geometry. hmmm so ... you want fries with that??

I am not sure, if I understand your request correctly.
is it something like this?
multi-pin mapping...

It seems the problem is a lot more specific than i first though (could well even be my lack of patience
)Basically i was trying to do a flower, i made a single petal and copied it a a few times. I was then going to deform each one to make them look more individual but the textures got messed up. Thinking about it now i should have just made one petal but not use a projected texture (as i did originally.) This should sort out the problem (i thought i had.)

Try making a petal with mapped texture, do not group or make into component. Now export as .3ds with full hierachy, export texture maps and preserving texture coordinates checked.
Now open a new instance of SU and import the .3ds model and make it a component (should already be one)
and try manipulating shape and see if this helps.
