[Plugin] SceneExporter

Fletch: from the plugin's page:
@unknownuser said:The default format is .jpg, but .bmp, .png, and .tif formats are also available.
Those are the available types in SU ruby. I'm looking into how to tie into the 3d exporters.
chango70: thanks, and glad it helped!
-
bought 'pro' version today... just used it.
wish it has one tiny thing... a way to specify the output folder. Didier's 2d output ruby has this... so I'm sure you can figure out a way.
like it for what it does! no complaints so far. haven't tested it on anything 'heavy duty' yet.
thanks for your work on it. it's something SU has needed for a very long time.... should have been built-in functionality long ago...
-
Since you asked nicely, I'll get one put in. Will post when it's ready.
-
Thanks Rick!
since you're there - One more thing!
If you have a lot of scenes... you can't access the buttons!hmmm... maybe not a major prob. I closed and re-opened the dialog, now I get the scroll bar on the right to access the buttons.... but I still would prefer multiple columns to see as many as possible in one screen without scrolling - wouldn't you?
-
The inactive scrollbars on the intial launch of the webDialog is a known SU bug. You can also right-click and select "refresh" to get the scrollbar to activate. I suppose I could shrink the text and/or make the rows shorter...
-
multiple columns of scene names is not possible? you have multiple columns of buttons...
-
Looks like an awesome time saver.
Any chance this will work on my mac?
-
Fletch: multiple columns is possible. I was just concerned about long scene names.
wrecknball: it should work on Mac (no reason to suspect otherwise).
-
Thanks Rick.
I purchased it as the non pro version worked great.
-
thanks, Rick,
any way you could wrap the PageExim capability into your Scene Exporter Pro? The 2 rubies seem so close in name (scene exporter) that it's logical to combine them, and confusing to have them seperate.I would love to be able to select a few diff. scenes from a file, and export only them... then use the same dialog to import them. Or, if possible, right-click a scene tab, choose 'Import from SketchUp model'... and get a similar dialog listing all the scenes in another SketchUp model, allow me to pick some of those scenes and import them into my current model.
I know that's something everyone in my office has asked me about at some time or another. I am currently recommending to them that they purchase Scene Exporter Pro - I use it every day!!!! With some development it could be very powerful! (I'd love your other Scene Organizer wrapped in with it too, as I mentioned before)
-
Fletch,
The eventual goal is to wrap everything together. It's just that time isn't on my side right now...

So, Rick, any ETA on exporting to a specific folder? (or is that a PITA because of Mac and Windows differences?)
-
Next week, hopefully. OT at work continues...
-
Rick, I have to say I use this exporter all the time - it's pays for itself from the day you start using it.
Are people not buying it? If not? why not? Is it because they don't understand the power it has, or because there's something out there that can do the job?
Something simple like exporting the images to a specified file doesn't seem like it would be difficult to do for a smart guy like yourself.
also, my other wishes still stand... please re-read my posts above - this plugin needs to be able to actually export the entire scene setups for any selected scene for import/load into another file. Also, it needs multiple columns for scene names... and my other wishes.
please!
-
Rick,
Like Fletch, I use this plug-in quite a lot - very useful.
.............................
A request I have....If you have time, could you have a think about creating a Scene Exporter that exports out (2d) CAD (ie dwg / dxf) data ???
Either a new Exporter, or possibly an Enhancement to the existing exporter - Scene Exporter Pro V2 ???
This would be a huge timesaver.
..............................
An exporter working in a similar manner to your existing Scene Exporter would be perfect - ie working through all selected scenes in order and generating the CAD filenames as a combination of the SU filename + the Scene Name (same as you have at present).Regards

Fletch,
I'm embarrassed to say that this specific request slipped my memory. I use this plugin all the time myself, and occasionally think about it, but I've always been under the gun when I use it and think about it, then forget due to the pressures of my day job, and don't think about it when I might have a few minutes to spare. But no more. My intent is to have it done this weekend (along with the Mac version of CameraControls).
Question for you (all): do you want to always be prompted for a save location, or just have it as an option (like the other options)?

I'd prefer to be prompted each time. When I use Sketchup I work on lots of different projects.

If I can paste a path into the web dialog I'm very happy.
The typical computer screen is wider than it is tall... so it would be good if the dialog were to work that way... I always end up having to scroll down and it's frustrating when the junk graphics card is already struggling just to show some shadows and hi-res textures.
thanks for being willing to look into this one again... can't wait to see the update!
I can not more HIGHLY recommend people buy this one... the pro version is simply killer already... saves hours.
regarding CAD output - I think I requested that too
-
Rick? umm...

Well Done Rick, This is a very useful script. I used to use the animation with no transitions, now I dont have to.
