Reverse Face Script
-
I've been searching for the reverse face script, and I can't seem to find it.
(A tool which lets you point to faces to reverse them rather than having to select and right click them)
Can some one point me in the right direction.
Also, does it automatically work inside components and groups, or do you have to open the component/group for edit?

Dear Al,
It is a Smustard freebie, called ReverseFaces. The actual script is labelled scrtool.rb
I just tried it on a group, and surprisingly, it works on faces inside the group. No need to edit.
Kind regards,

didiers got a view based face reverser: http://www.sketchucation.com/forums/scf/viewtopic.php?f=153&t=5333
I find it works very well although it can be a bit slow if youve got an organic mesh with loads of small faces.

If you just want to reverse individual faces you could always just set 'reverse face'as a shortcut...

Thanks to everyone for the replies.
The nice thing about the reverse face 'tool' is that it reverses faces with one click per face - rather than having to select the face and then hit the shortcut, and that it can reverse faces inside of components and blocks without having to open them for edit.
Also, the tool can reverse the material definitions so that the face appears the same after reversal. (Usually you are in Monochrome mode when reversing faces, and don't notice that existing materials get reversed as well.)

oh, that is something the SketchUp guys should change for default - the reversing of materials. because I think when reversing faces you (almost) never intend to change the colour you see...

try assigning "reverse face" to a shortcut, then selecting the "move" tool or other similar tool that automatically selects faces, hover your mouse over the faces you want to reverse and press your shortcut key. its fast.

maybe off topic, but I might also add, that you could change the "front" and "back" face colors to be the same in your style editor if you are just concerned about the appearance.

This depends on how you use the plugin. Typically, imported files have the correct texture on the reversed front face. Either way, there is a good chance that there will be faces that have to be adjusted manually. Perhaps this can be a menu selection, however I notice few users take the time to check plugin options.

If you have made [or imported] a model where the back faces are the wrong way round but have been textured as if they were the front face - visible when viewed in Monochrome mode - then my FixReversedFaceMaterials script tools can help... http://forums.sketchucation.com/viewtopic.php?p=264134#p264134
