[Tutorial > Modeling] new organic modeling way (main Idea)
-
I started a new way of thinking for lowpoly organic modeling . here is main idea only (work in progress).plz try tutorial . in other ways you have to do organic modeling over o complicated prossecc over lines and faces that lots of them are confusing . but here like "clay modeling" you make a base , and then trace over that base . so you are always "on face" snap helper , and it makes modeling , more easy . any c&c
i had not enough time so the model is too primitive ,but consists main idea ( tracing over faces + easy modeling) . also you may do this way several times over the previous model you made

Hi majid,
This is an interesting approach. Thanks for the
Tut, I will give it a try.Mike

i am tring to make a man model , here is a more advanced model. i guess it is an easier approach to organic modeling than other approaches... : make a row model , lock it and trace faces and lines on it....in other approaches you may do a confusing job to find intersections and erase some parts...
also in my approach you may do modeling in a different layer than the raw model layer and then show/wide layers as needed

here are clothe details. i also add some curves (as groups) to helps me in modeling...( i.e. shirt details)
it takes a long time , but results lowpoly model and a clear workflow

I think that SketchUp skills are important here, but more important is that you've really got to have an artists eye. You must have years of experience doing figure drawings. That knowledge with good SU technique can make wonderful models, but without that knowledge, I don't think it's possible.

YES, John, it certainly is true. And Majid does have those eyes and all the tools (talent, technique etc) to do it, I believe.

hi folks ....
maybe you are right to some extent about me .... BTW always it's possible to use pictures from real model as a guide ... that makes the job more easier and clearer.............. and also i think SOLO method needs more talent and it's confusing - even for me - to find which lines / faces must be kept /deleted... and also i guess a combination of SOLO method + my way ----> better resut .
I mean using skeleton ( from solo way ) + simple primitive (round) shapes ( my way ) , would be easier and more secure to have a nice result. -
good stuff

Majid, are you still using these techniques and how is progress? I'm trying to improve my organic modelling skills & came across this 2008 post. It looks like a good alternative method.

But alas it's like a tortoise against a rabitt when you use something like Sculptris!
