Kerkythea lights/SU arc segments
-
Hi all,
I can't seem to figure out how to make your own lights for use within Kerkythea (not the spotlights or point lights that are readily available) i.e. like a neon or strip light. every time i think i have it sussed it appears as a spot or point light in kerky, any ideas how to do this?
secondly, is there any way of changing the default number of segments that sketchup chooses for the arcs and circles? its pretty tedious having to change such things individually
cheers in advance

if you draw a circle in th modle and change th enumber of segments, the default number of segments for that modle will stay the same as the new value you entered. you might be able to lock this for your default template by making a circle, changing the number of sides, deleting the circle and then saving the file and making it your template.

i was hoping for something more within the settings so that whenever i start a new project, the number of segments is considerably higher than that of the default of 24. the number of segments only remain at the number you set them for for that particular object, if a new arc or similar is drawn, it always starts of at 24.

thats interesting, if i change the number of segments in a model, it stays at that number of segments untill you change it again. just to clarify how i do it: draw circle, then type '(number of segments)s' into the VCB, without the quotes.
as for just entering a default starting value, im pretty sure there isnt anything easy like a box where you can just type it in. and just a word of warning, having lots of segments might seem like a good idea initially, but if your model gets anywhere close to big it slows SU down a lot (aobut 20,000 faces it starts to slow down significantly, independent of your machine.)

very strange indeed, seems to be remaining on the last segment input

- Any component called 'su2kt_pointlight' or 'su2kt_spotlight'
will turn into the corresponding light type. To edit it
please select one and use context menu. - To export model to Kerkythea
- go to Plugins\Kerkythea Exporter and select 'Export model'
- To assign Thin Glass shader to material
add 'TG_' prefix to material's name. - To make material appear always bright call it 'EmitFake'
- To turn material into light call it 'Emit[#]'
where # stands for power of light (8=~100W) - KT Material Libaries can be used now directy in SU.
Please use KT Material Import tools.
For further information please visit
Kerkythea Website & Forum - http://www.kerkythea.netPlug-in is based on Su2Pov written by Didier Bur

Hi Gordon!
If you haven't done it already, I suggest that you download the Getting Started tutorial, which should help you achieve what you want to...
I also encourage you to visit the KT Forum, where you can find many useful tips and tricks...
I.e. take a look at the neon lamps for a industry hall thread or the neon lights thread...In KT2008 Echo, which will be released on Wednesday, January 30th, you have the option to use IES lights...
To get an idea about what IES is, you can Google it or take a look here...Hope this can help you further..!?
