1 new feature

A lasso, circle or square cutting selection tool that only copied what was within the selection, so you could use re-scale the section to show small details up close.

A tool that will , in a small rectangulo provided by the same tool, eliminate all the points inside and create a one single brilliant point.
That would give an enormous ability to close faces.
Most useful when elevating a complex sum of planes. -
Built in ray-tracer or scan-line render.
Bah.

nurbs!!

Current material name displayed in status area, clicking on it opens the materials palette. Choosing the paint bucket tool shouldn't affect material palette visibility.

Feature 1:
Increased maths (or math if your American
)
I use the '/' 'x' functions regularly, for example I can COPY a construction line from one point to another and them type '/3' and I'll get the distance divided by 3 but I cant do it when placing an original construction line for example, I'd like to hover over a edge, pull in a direction and type 1278.5/5 and get 5 lines.Feature 1.1:
In GDS (going back a bit here) I could draw a set of (construction) lines by typing:
XLINE 0 100 250 r 6 100 300 and get a line where I clicked (0), a line 100mm away, a line 250mm away repeated 6 times, a line 100mm away and a line 300mm away from that.Feature 2:
Coloured Scene Tabs, I use tabs not only to store camera positions but layer visibility, shadow settings etc.
For example I currently have a file with both the existing building and the proposed remodelling in it, its 3 stories tall and I have 4 primary views I want for each floor so I have 4 scenes that store layer visibility, Ground, Ground+First, Ground+First+Second etc. till I get to the roof, I then have 4 scenes that store only the camera positions.
This way I can go to view 1, Ground floor or view 4 3rd floor with just 2 clicks.
In another model I have the shadows setup at 8am, 11am, 1pm, 3pm, 5pm and 7pm.If I could colour my Scene tabs it would make my life a lot easier.
Edit:
Opps, just reread remus's post and picked up the 'Original tool' bit, I think coloured tabs is original but more math(s) is only an enhancement....... I'm going to leave it though because I want it

It is not a tool but it would be a new feature...
Locking Toolbars!

All the cool 3d apps are wearing NURBS this season.
-
A ' don't-you-dare-crash-on-me ' button.
I would use it a lot.

They've been wearing it since the late Nineties, actually. Some things just don't go out of style.
-
So is this the sequel... Revenge of the Nurbs?
I would also like a couple render buttons:
- Like Solo
- Like kwistenbiebel
- Random
-
good ideas guys. I especially like your idea for the render buttons boo

Run for the hills the nurbs are coming!!!
What do you mean? Are you in the developing team? Is it a scoop or a joke?

And this, my little ponies is how rumours begin.

I read it as if someone was yelling it as a warning against invading aliens in a 50's sifi movie

I know, I'm odd

Hmm, imagine ... I bought MoI recently, and I've been fantasizing about a cross between SU and MoI a lot.
Kwisten's dont-you-dare-crash-on-me-button sounds like a plan too.
-
quiet kwis, the phrase 'high poly' and any of its derivatives are forbidden from this thread!!
-
I've got another one.
A 'displacement-map-to-geometry tool'.This could be a great feature when modeling buildings using photomatch .
Sketchup could generate a displacement map from a facade picture and transform it into 3D.
In this way,we could have windows, doors and facade material bump automatically 'hard modeled' into geometry.
A tremendous photorealism boost (definitely for rendering
)....but only possible if Sketchup can handle higher poly models off course. -
OK
....sorry about that .
