PP a component -- unexpected results
-
I have been working on an arbor and saving the various parts as Components.
While modeling a rafter I found that when attempting to extend it using the Push-Pull tool -- it wouldn't extend as one smooth unit. A line separated the "original" rafter from the "extended" one. What is happening here? Attached is a copy of the comp. Thanks, Danty

the rafter isn't square... use the protractor on the end you're trying to extrude and you'll see that one angle is 90.5deg and the other is ~89.5.. these are miniscule amounts which makes it even harder to realize what's going on.. with sketchup, it's very easy to keep everything straight and square so it has me wondering how you arrived at this lopsided rafter.. if you're into it, maybe draw up a step-by-step of the method you're using so people will be able to see where you're taking a bad turn..

fwiw - i've attached your drawing with a 3rd scene added to it.. it's the same rafter you've drawn but i've exaggerated the mistake to make it more obvious as to what's going on..

Jeff -- I knew the answer had to be a simple one. That's what I get for working on past midnight when I was already tired from being up past midnight on SU the night before. I can't help it sometimes -- I just want to get ONE more part of the model done -- and (2) more hours have past.
Much thanks, Danty -

Much thanks, DantyDanty,
Looked at both uploaded models, (also healing faces).
In addition to Jeff's answers two things that could cause problems later:- you tend to have several edges (length ~0") floating around in 3D-space.
- If you make Layer0 the current layer and turn off Layer2 you will loose part of the model.
Going on like this will most likely let you loose control over(visibility of) your model.
