Is there a way to scale uniformly by referencing on existing geometry (like AutoCAD)?
    For example:
I have a 3d free form shape wich I don't know exactly the dimensions but I want to scale it uniformly so that can fit exactly an existing lenght.
Is that possible without making a complex construction and than scale it holding down the shift key?

      Sure.

Afters selecting the component and the scale tool, press Shift grab and the top grip (which says "blue scale about opposite point". Shift toggles between uniform and non-uniform scaling.

Also you can use Ctrl to togle between "opposite point" or "center" - but in this case you'd just scale about the opposite point.

Using the top grip (and not the corner one) will let you snap precisely.

I'm moving this thread since it is not a tutorial in the sense this subforum is meant for

RpTools, a SketchUp add-on, has a Wizard to let you select a component or other geometry,
see its current sizes, enter the desired sizes, and scale it.
