Section planes in LayOut
-
I have created sections i SketchUp and I have hidden the section plane. When I transfer the image to LayOut, the section plane appears again. Does anyone know how to permanently remove the section plane i the LayOut presentation?

I imagine you would have to delete it in SU before exporting. Or however you get it to LayOut, but then again, I dont even know what layout is, so i could be wrong entirely.

We're looking at this....hold please.
Edit: Ok Karsten you're onto something here and we have a question for you... in Layout, in the Styles tab (within the SketchUp Model browser), can you check your "In Model Styles" for a second Style? You may need to select another Style library from the drop-down menu first, to show the second Style in the In Model Styles tab.
IF you do have two Styles in your In Model Styles library, please select each to see if your update occurs.
Also, make sure to update the Style in SketchUp whenever you make a change that causes the Style to require an update, then save the SketchUp model before sending to or updating in Layout.
Let us know what you find, and thanks for working on this with me!
Cheers,

Hi Craig
I have tried everything you suggested, but I still have the same problem. The "section plane"Hi Halli continues to show in LayOut no matter what I do. I have tried to attach the LayOut-file in question, but I get this mesage "The extension layout is not allowed". What can I do to show you my problem?Thank you

I'll look into this and hope we'll have the extension allowed in these forums.
Thanks for highlighting this!

I've done (sort of) hold on
Edit : Here is what I've done....
I created a section through the cube and then a group from that. Then I exploded the group cutting the cube. Then I place the cut-out corner (i left the lines on the complete cube) on a new layer, turned off the layer and created a new scene.
In layout you can show different scenes (page for the Veterans).
I know itβs not ideal but it work for basic models.
Hope it helps

Hi Toby
Nice initiative - it works
I am still struggling to find out what goes wrong when I "send to Lauout". Sometimes the section planes are there, and sometimes they are not there. I have tried to compare all sorts of settings, but cannot see any difference between the two situations. However, I have noticed that a style named "Modified active style", that sometimes appears on the context click in LayOut, seems to remove the section plane when activated in Layout. The problem is, I do not know where this style comes from (cannot find it in SU under "Styles".
Interesting to participate in this forum. I have been looking around and I have learned a lot.
thaks for letting me in

It cool that I was able to help. I was in such a rush to post when i figured a way of doing it. but my will get very complicated with more detailed models.
I'm sure with the next release of layout you'll be able to do a lot more.

This is my first time offering a solution... so I hope it helps! In order for the section planes to be hidden when you work in Layout, you need to set up your section cut, turn off 'display section planes' and save what you have on screen as a scene. Then when you open the model in LO, select the scene you saved (in the 'view' option in the 'SU model' toolbar). This should then be exactly as you had it in SU.

That sounds like a great suggestion. Well Done, I think that might be a newer version thing (ie 7 and above) but i could be wrong.
Thanks for exploring the older posts.

hi. you need to set the cut section hidden. select the cut section, entity info & tick the hidden box.hope that helps you.

in styles window look in the edit modeling settings uncheck section lines save as new style and use in the scene be sure to save SU model and update layout

A little late to the party, but I also had this issue, despite the section being hidden. All I had to do was (in Sketchup, not layout), go to view, and uncheck section planes.
