        Nice Gully.

I would be open for an area to talk about sawdust.

The chairs look nice and comfortable and the table would appear to extend. Did you make this yourself?

Alan, although I do like to putter with woodworking projects, I didn't make any of this stuff.

Actually, I'm planning to move to another state and build a new house next year, which is why I was drawn to SU in the first place, and I've modeled a lot of my existing furniture to put inside the model of my new house.

Still, I'd like to see a Woodworking section of the forum.

Very true Alan! I think the other post you're refering to might be the thread I started a while back. You can see it here:
              http://forum.sketchup.com/showthread.php?t=59328&highlight=woodworkers+of+the+world+unite

I'd be more than happy to put in the time and whatever effort may be needed to establish such a sub-forum.

And I would happily join you. I have visited the forums you mentioned and they are very informative.

Being a 'sketchuper' if there is such a word, I like the idea that we can communicate using this medium. I think that it is an excellent product, enhanced and with this superb facility provided by Coen.

Guys I have already "marked" this thread to Coen to think about the new (sub) forum. I can see that there are quite a lot of woodworkers around so a separate place would be nice - though I'm afraid then you wouldn't hang around in the "common places" so much.

No fear of that! I don't believe any woodworking SketchUper would want to miss out on the wealth of information and expertise that is constantly posted on this and on the pro users forum. However, there are issues that are specific and peculiar to woodworking that would intrigue woodworkers but probably bore the rest. Not to mention the woodworkers tendency to go off at a tangent discussing wood grain, growth rings, joinery techniques and so on and so forth. Now, do you realy want to subject the general SU public to that kind of abuse? πŸ’š

If you don't know where you're going, you're never going to get there.

I certainly will miss you. But here is my best woodwork as a go-away present.
An Adirondack type chair made of Roble wood in Indonesia, and was sold by Costco.

                            I will visit,

I don't understand. Are you leaving? Because I certainly have no intention of going anywhere, and I don't believe any other wood working SketchUper will stop frequenting any of the other forums here if a wood working forum were to be set up.
These forums are like home to me, and in every home there are many rooms. Just because I may want to have a cup of coffee with some friends in the wood working room doesn't mean I won't have a beer with my buddies in the material/components room and then drop in for some cookies with the guys in the Pro Users lounge.
                              See what I mean?
By the way, beautiful chair. Thanks for sharing.

                                    Alan,
as you should know, the origin for this type of chair is a 19th Century English Lawn Chair. Here is another one:
                                    http://media.popularmechanics.com/documents/PMX0706Adiron.pdf

They were just left out in the rain. I never saw them displayed with cushions, they are comfortable without. In Eastern Canada they call them Muskogan Chair.

                                    Have a nice day,
