Amazing stuff, I also had no idea that this was possible with podium, how long did it take to render these? I love the wood one πŸ˜›. Amazing stuff!

          Thanks guys

Yup Podium has come a far way since December last year, the above were done with the new version 1.5 beta (available to all registered users) which has many new features like clipmapping (alpha maps), bump mapping, scripting, better light and sun control, recognition of front faces even if they are not all facing out etc (there are more but thats all I can remember) and it's free to anyone that owns the basic version.

As mentioned the above renders where done in 1 to 4 minutes on average, only Vivid logo was added, so these are all RAW renders.

Hopefully very soon a new texture tool and figure creator will be available (my software, independant of Podium, but within the Sketchup program) that will make mapping odd shapes a breeze as well as introducing mid size poly people into models that can be textured in detail for use in foreground requirements.
          I will keep you posted.

These renders are great again - as usually, when I saw you posting, came to the gallery at once. πŸ˜„

                    Hi Solo,
this posting has inspired me to download the trial version of Podium.
                    cheers

yes, I did too. I'm so lost tho. I can't get it to work. Guess I should read the tutorial, so I don't go years not knowing some basic tool that could have saved me 1000'S of hours.... πŸ˜’

Impressive renders Solo! I'm just seeing these now. Yesterday I downloaded the beta and have been playing with it. If I had seen your posting before I'd have downloaded the beta much earlier! Your examples are very inspiring.

                        Regards, Ross

Very interesting. I was playing with the trial a little, but I felt that the 500x500 restriction didn't give me the chance to evaluate the details produced. This has certainly tempted me to buy the whole thing and really give it a go. I wasn't even aware that Podium could bumpmap. Completely missed that. Guess I need to have another look at the website and the docs.

Yes bumpmaps, clipmaps and more. This level of simplicity is really something no other soft can claim. Also Podium is very addictive once you start playing with it.

I second that. Podium really has come a very long way since I bought it (which, I think, was in May).

I've tried: Maxwell, Vray ... you name the app. None of these come close to Podium's ease of use. Indigo is the exception. Why? Because its SU plugin, SkIndigo, has an UI which is inspired by Podium's. πŸ˜„

There's some really excellent ideas behind Podium - one of which is to make rendering as easy as humanly possible. Other apps claim to be easy to use, but only Podium really is [i]easy. Every new feature (bumps etc)has been implemented in such a way that even a technically person like myself can use it without much trouble. ❗

As I'm writing this, the new version of Podium, commonly known as V2, is in the works. Nothing is known about it, as TBD and Sepo shroud themselves in secrecy (it is said they even have a secret handshake). Which, of course, is their business. But! Considering what they've pulled off until now, I'd say V2 might very well be a considerable step forward.

So ... consider using Podium. Good ideas should be rewarded.

(I sound like an ad today. Sorry for that. I'm a copywriter, I cannot help it. 😳 But I'm serious: good ideas, good app, bright future. No, I don't work for the Podium guys. ❗ )

Great renders indeed. May I ask what sort of lighting rig you used for setting them up? Did you use your dome model, or just a black background with a few point light groups? TIA,

Wow, podium sure has come a long ways, cant wait to see what it will be like in one years time. This is what i am looking for when it comes to rendering my models, and it well worth the price. I have used the eval version before and was impressed with it then, now i really want to use the full potential.

Now if this could only be harnessed to render models to other programs!
