Fredo Scale Radial Bending not working

Im trying to use the radial bend tool and after i hit a target point to start bending it just turns into a group and doesnt bend the object. not sure what im doing wrong

Its expecting start point, endpoint and then target before bending can execute

@Rich-O-Brien it works when i make a new shape but it does not work with the shape i am using i have make copies of it and exploded it and it goes to show the example of the bend but it doesnt actually bend the shape
