Unable to use Fredo6 tools after purchase and update
-
Hello all,
I'm having an issue trying to use Fredo6 tools after purchasing the bundle. Hopefully someone can share some input on ways to solve this. Here are the details:
OS: Windows10
SketchUp Version: SketchUp Pro 2023
Current Issue: When I select any of the Fredo6 tools on my toolbar, I get a pop-up with the message"To continue using the extension "JointPushPull etc.", please upgrade to the latest vesrion of Sketchucation ExtensionStore."
Troubleshooting Steps I've taken:
- Step 1: Ensured I had the latest version of the Sketchucation ExtensionStore installed (ver4.3.1 I installed it through the Sketchucation ExtensionStore itself.)
- Step 2: Verified the proper licenses were active within my sketchucation account.(License files provided have also been downloaded to my machine)
- Step 3: Restarted SketchUp (same problem persists)
- Step 4: Restarted cpu (Same problem)
- Step 5: Uninstalled/reinstalled plugins and extensions (same problem)
- Step 6: Uninstalled SketchUp 2023 and all previous versions I had on my machine. Performed re-install of SketchUp Pro 2023 (ran as administrator. Still the same problem.)
NOTE: When the pop-up apears, I'll hit "enter" on my keyboard and quickly double-click the tool icon and it sometimes works (I'd say 70% of the time I try this weird method) Definitely not the way I want to work. Thanks in advance for your time.

Please run the Window > Libfredo Settings > Fredo6 Plugins Information for Sketchucation Support menu command in SketchUp and copy/paste the output into your reply.

Thanks for the quick response Rich! Here is the info I got (editing out some items)

Have you installed SketchUp with the correct Admin rights?
Your output suggest the inability to create the necessary folders. If you visit C:\Users\SomeName\AppData\Local\SCF Licenses is that folder created? If yes, what is in it?
If no, can you repair your install?
Download the SketchUp installer and right click Run as Admin and then Repair. The missing part of your output...

Hi Rich,
Yes, I installed SketchUp as suggested in a different thread in the Sketchucation community forum. (..."Run as Administrator...") in my latest install. I also did the "repair" method you had suggested.
When I looked in my users folder(C:\Users\SomeName\AppData\Local\SCF Licenses) the "SCF License" folder is in there and it was empty.
I JUST placed the fredo6 license files in there prior to this post (The individually emailed files I received from sketchucation was saved on my desktop). I restarted SketchUp and the same PopUp message appeared.
Here is the last output info:

The license files are not placed into that folder. You unpack the license using the License menu for the particular extension.
So for Fredo Scale you would go to Tools > Fredo Collection > Fredoscale > License... and in the dialog that opens click Activate License and navigate to where you have downloaded the license file.
The licensing system will then create the SCFLicense_FredoScale_this_computer.txt file at C:\Users\SomeName\AppData\Local\SCF Licenses. There's no need to put files there manually.
So please remove .scf files that you may have placed there as they have no purpose there.

That still doesn't address the ruby errors your are experiencing here though. I would try a fresh install of Sketchucation Tools and Libfredo.
- Close SketchUp
- Delete both the sketchucation.rb and the sketchucation folder and the Fredo6_!LibFredo6.rb and Fredo6_!LibFredo6 folder at C:\Users\SomeName\AppData\Roaming\SketchUp\SketchUp 2022\SketchUp\Plugins
- Install the extensions manually using Extensions > Extension Manager > Install
- https://sketchucation.com/plugin/696-sketchucationtools
- https://sketchucation.com/pluginstore?pln=LibFredo6
Restart SketchUp
Now run Window > Libfredo Settings > Fredo6 Plugins Information for Sketchucation Support and paste result here

Thanks for your help on this Rich! Following your last set of instructions fixed the issue I was having.
When I tried to select the license tab for the tools(s), I never got a dialog box to pop up allowing me to activate the license. I uninstalled / reinstalled the plugins per your instruction. On the last restart I was able to get the dialog box for the tool license to be activated. I activated the licenses and restarted one more time. All the tools are working properly and I am no longer getting the popup message of "To continue using the extension JointPushPull, please upgrade to..."

Great, so maybe a corrupt install or you manually moved some files between versions?
Either way it seems all is good in the setup once more. Happy modelling
-
You're right. It was most likely due to a corrupt install. The only instance I manually moved files was with those license files. I undid that action once you informed me it didn't need to be in that folder. After the uninstall/re-install instructions, everything's been working smoothly and I was able to properly activate the licenses.
Thanks again for all of your help on this and to the rest of the team for what you guys provide the community.

Hi to all,
Also been trying to purchase a bundled license but being declined. I already tried 2 credit cards already for this. Is there any other workaround for this? I can't use my Sketchup 2024 properly without these plugins.
Thanks,
Phil -
