Believe me; you can develop this sketch to an astounding result IF you prepare enough resources and inspiration. i.e. This one for the sloped parts:
    https://www.world-architects.com/en/hadi-teherani-architects-hamburg/project/dockland-1
Also, many famous architects start from very loose sketches and then develop them. If you have a true sense of aesthetics then the more one knows about the execution the better the result will be.

      Good points. ๐Ÿ‘

In some cases I probably try to be too precise and in some I am off base. I never would have figured out what the sketch was in your link. Was sure a wild building that it turned out to be. I think sometimes I get disappointed if my sketch is bot something just short of a render. From what I am getting from your comments and links, the primary point of the sketch is to pass along the basic ideas of the suggestion but with enough insight to convey the final goal/target. Not being an architect or artist and โ€œagingโ€ turns this into a โ€œchallengeโ€. ๐Ÿ˜„

        You got the point!
Sketches are there to light the shadow and are part of the process from an abstract idea to details...And believe me, it is somehow challenging to acquire the skill, independent of age!
I myself learned architecture in workshops where real buildings were shaped. It was then that I could get the hang of the whole process...

Much to th-ink about in this thread for which I thank you both. Thinking of the use of motif in this design language.

Windows and panels stylised to suggest the alphabet too with this render showing just one element so:-

The outline is a partial 'M'.

Putting two such elements back to back creates and 'M'.

The windows and panels also suggest a stylised 'M'.

Just responding with some thoughts folks, the thread has its own life tbh.

Welcome to the thread. ๐Ÿ˜„ Will be interesting to see where you take this thought.

Here is one I am thinking about that I had posted on the Twilight Render thread. Have a bunch of thoughts in my head as to what the next steps will be to turn the letter X into a building.

            X-Building Idea

Again, welcome to the topic and looking forward to seeing what you come up with. ๐Ÿ‘

Suggest looking at some of Majidโ€™s examples or the pages from his book (earlier in this thread - page 2). You can also look at this thread Alphabet Inspired Sketches on the Twilight Render forum.

Hope some of the stuff on these two threads give you some ideas/inspiration. ๐Ÿ‘

                          Moving on a bit.

The 'A' frame crossed to form four arms, to which apartments are attached, I know, not all the supporting framework is in place. Just sorting out the lie of the land.

Viewed from the top, the 'X' will be evident while decor on the outside of the apartments will initially be the 'E'.

I need to work out where the bungee cords, sorry, lifts and stairs will go but probably two of each.

That is meant to be a whatif of apartments, a little craziness if you will. There is a central lift shaft etc but no stairs yet, or ever perhaps.

The fire escape method consists of a bungee cord system and the user just steps out of the building wearing the harness.

They will of course have to unclip the harness the moment their feet touch the ground and it could get messy if there is anyone above you when that happens. You might also need an umberella in that case too.

                              No, it rhymes with Mooo.

Ta mate, I think I am l;eaning towards a prefabricated unit setup where the frame is universal and the units are the alphabet.

Pardon the intrusion, the Badgers are here for supper so I popped out to deliver commestibles.

I reckon prefab units have a lot going for them when done right, seen a fair bit about Huf ( https://www.huf-haus.com/en-uk/ ) designs about the interweb and on Grand Designs where they appeared to be pretty good value for money etc.

Using a skeleton would possibly just be extending this idea a bit further so, rather like a bridge idea.

Services could be an issue, anyone have any thoughts on that? Possibly extend the alphabet to include units for this within a framework?

Combining the ideas is highly welcomed ( in creativity )!
To solve the service question you may see the similar vertical tower projects and see how they have solved it. Alternatively, you may solve it by breaking the question down: The question is getting up from one level to another. So just adding an stair case to each unit, then a short path to the next stair case might be a solution. Also you may consider it as a futuristic project where all commuting is by drones...!
Here is a personal project example:

When I was in school, a LOooooong time ago, it was predicted that less than ten percent of us would even leave home to work (By 2020) so commuting, would be history.

Yeah well that worked out, right?

Seriously, what can we expect in the future? City sized tower blocks where all ammenities are available on each level, like a termite mound? Where people do not need to leave their partucular level?

If this means we can landscape the rest and remove the majority of human detritus, I am all for it.

By this time I should think we will have clean energy and be able to run homes much more efficintly or, so I would hope. We m,ight even have a Scott me up beamy working.
