Normals map generator

I have never created my own normals maps and the thought or creating then intimidated me. This generator looks like it is worth a look https://cpetry.github.io/NormalMap-Online/

L i am , F.Y.I. you can also create normal maps in Gimp. Watched a few tutorials and it seems to do a good job for me.

Just be aware of the normal format these export to. OpenGL and DirectX normals Green channel are opposite. So if you see stuff raised at render time that should be indented its usually the normal map.

Rich is correct about this. The Gimp tutorials I watched showed how to correct the map if it looks āinside outā as Rich mentions. Iāve had good results with using these Gimp created maps in Twilight Renderā¦

It reads harder than it is to fix. Majority of archviz engines use openGL format. Just something to be aware of.
