Clean This CPU Fan!
-
Wow been getting high CPU temps, I took a pic of the fan and see all this heavy dust under the fan blades! Man is that clogged!
I have a mobile tech coming Wed. to clean and possibly replace the fan, but in the meantime can I turn the computer off and gently brush the dust from the inside of the case, under those fan blades without messing up anything?? Just to nock off some of that blockage?

Yes, you can do that. Use a vacuum cleaner to suck the sum off that dust clumps gently.
I do not see a reason to replace that cooler, maybe repaste it.
That cooler goes with a lower-end Intel CPU and they are pretty sufficient for that CPU.
My 2cents are to clean real good inside of that case and maybe see if you could get more air pressure from adding another case fan to get more flow inside your case. -
yeah I tried brushing the gunk but it didn't really remove any so I'll wait on the tech who's coming over tomorrow. He'll also install a new usb port as none of mine are working.

There is a real need for action!
Vacuum cleaner and compressed air (in appropriately low pressure doses) are certainly the instruments of choice. I read here that the fanĀ“s revolutions generated in this way can in turn generate currents themselves that may cause damage, especially to the CPU. When I do this work once or twice a year, I lock the fans simply with one finger. I also recommend using a very soft brush and please make sure not to wear nylon clothing for this work...sorry, somehow I missed this post from you

I don't know much about the inner parts of a computer so will leave this to an expert.

Get a PC case that is meant for workshops. Especially filters because you obviously have lots of dust intake.
Ideally, relocate the tower outside the dusty environment and run your cables to your display and accessories in the workshop.

This is in my office so no sawdust, but I am a smoker and the tower is right next to me ..

Curious if the office,is,connected to the shop? Either way lots of stuff being sucked into the insides. Iād look into one off those small ceiling mounted air filters that are sold by the various woodworking machinery manufacturersā¦.. couldnāt hurtā¦
