Another good one Bryan. Very interesting scene. πŸ‘ πŸ‘

How do you do all this Free/Make?

        Thanks ntxdave. πŸ‘

2017 Free/Make was/is just as powerful as Pro, it just doesn't have Layout or Stylebuilder. I use Raylectron to render, which is a very inexpensive renderer that I acquired years ago.

I forgot to mention the skyline is a photo imported into SU, and set a few feet away from the window. It is also tilted back from the top, to compensate for perspective, with a little bit of shiny texture added in Raylectron to brighten it.

Interesting render. Have to say I’d be throwing buckets of paint on the walls. It’s a little to monochromatic for my taste. That said it’s still an excellent job on your part. πŸ‘

Installed the latest, up-to-the-minute-stable build of Raylectron and re-rendered.

                Thanks ntxdave!

                Thanks tuna!

Oh man, I really wanted to dirty this up a lot, but could not find any good textures. Splatters on the table. The floor. I also wanted a canvas drop cloth for the work area and leftover food on the table by the coffee pot.

But this goes back to my laptop again and overloading it. And speaking of which, I ran across some obscure reference to SU not playing nice with Intel video. That would explain a lot. No fix for it because, Intel. So next laptop, nVidia or AMD graphics.

One more time. The great folks at Raylectron has some tips and pointers about light settings and they made a big difference.

If you all are reading this, thanks!

Nice work Mike πŸ‘ And I also have noticed that over the years the Raylectron people have the very best support I have ever seen πŸ‘ A few years ago I asked Raylectron for 2 more functions, they added the functions "set sun behind camera" and "clay render" to the app within 34 hours of my suggestion πŸ˜„

Bryan, the adjustments in the second render look great. Excellent job πŸ‘

LOL, would you believe I'm still working on this? I found the drop cloth I wanted. Raylectron is also helping me work on the lighting some more.

"would you believe I'm still working on this" Yep, that last 10% of time can make 100% difference. I think to become a very good renderer means that person needs to be unhappy with his work. That is the difference πŸ˜‰

Last one. Very subtle change in lighting. I learned a lot from this one.

Like the brightness of this last one. Fits with the size of the window wall. Curious though, what is the material setup for the plain wall on the left ? It seems it’s reflecting the windows more than a painted wall would ?

Nice drop cloth. Makes me chuckle a little… the artists I worked with on my old job would say β€œ Drop cloth ! I don’t need no stinking drop cloth β€œ πŸ˜‰ πŸ‘

Got lucky and found the perfect rug from the free library on Raylectron. Fairly low poly and easy to change textures.

Would you believe the grey walls and ceiling are actually white. I also gave them a very slight shine. The new shine settings are more sensitive than the previous version of Raylectron. Still getting used to it.

Yeah, most artists I know don't used drop cloths either, but I though it added some more "interest" to the scene.

                                      Cheers.

Yes, airiness. That describes it perfectly, although I would not have though of that word, or what it was exactly I was trying achieve, it fits perfectly. That is what I'm hoping to eventually achieve. Thanks!
