I am working on a house with a corrugated roof. I was not happy with corrugared metal usibg PBR materials so I thought reluctantly I would do the corrugated roof with geometry. I created the geometry with the plan of intersect faces. So I created the geometry made it a group placed the cutting faces....all good so far. Then I trird to explode the geometry (in blue) ......crash, no bug splat nothing it just crashed 4 times. I restarted mt computer, fix problems, purge unused, tried to explode the geometry again.........CRASH. I am using SU pro 2021 36 gigs of ram. 8 gigs of VRAM Good CPU. Ideas anyone?

I am only using standard line sements in the geometry, nothing crazy

The usual reason for a no bugsplat crash related to what is sounds like you are doing is that the action is creating a continuous collection of segments that exceeds the sketchup tolerance. Can't remember off hand if it is 5000 or 10000 segments, but none the less it will be obvious if you have anywhere near that many.

Thanks box, so simply is is beyond the scope of what I can do with sketchup. I guess it does not bugsplat as there is no point in reporting a known limitation. Thanks again at least I do not have to keep trying will have to settle for a texture as any reduction with segments would show up anyway

Corrugated iron comes in sheets, it's not one continuous roof. So make it out of parts.

I followed the same logic and as impluasable as it may sound I tried it 3 different ways. all good I did each sheet one by one, all good until I get nearly to the end ....crash all crashed with different
size sheets about at the same point. Believe it or not, I can come to no other conclusion than it is not a one by one real time thing...........it is cumulative ❗ ❗ ❗ ❗ That is a bug ❗

If you attach your model we may be able to sort it out.

This is a quick example of how I would look at it.

Ok I will, thank you. Image is how I did it, or one of three ways not to do it. 😉

Box, I never would have considered using a section plane for construction. Hand on heart you are a true master 👍

I was able to make a paneled triangular section of roof with your model after I did a bit of cleaning up. I move the model near the origin and removed all the extraneous hidden geometry in the panel.
Have a go doing what you want with this version and see if it makes a difference.

By cleaning up the corrugated geometry I was able to make it one sheet and simply intersect it with the triangle.
Try not to creat so many hidden edges. And the 'thickness' faces are not necessary if you are going to chop through the faces.
