              I do not use/have not used Raylectron. Can you please explain an HDRI dome to me.

              • Is it something special to Raylectron?
              • How is it different different from a normal HDRI?

                Raylectron, like other render software, can take an HDRI and convert it into a picture "dome" that provides both scenery and overhead sky light for a render. No special adjustment is need, just load the HDRI in the Raylectron Environment settings and Raylectron does the rest. You can then rotate the HDRI horizontally to achieve your desired effect.

                The old way in SketchUp, IIRC, was to create a dome in SketchUp that covered the model and then apply an image texture to the inside of the dome, then create a render from inside the dome.

                Modern HDRIs ( and this may be true for older HDRIs as well) are pictures of combined landscapes and skies that look weirdly wide angle when viewed flat.

                You can search for free HDRIs to test on future renders to see what I mean. But be warned, not all HDRIs are good and still takes some adjustments (tilt, zoom, rotate) to make them look real with your model in the final render, so sometimes, you are limited in the composition of your final render.

                  Thanks for the reply Bryan. If I understand what you are saying, there is nothing really special about the HDRI itself but rather how it is applied to the model. I use Twilight Render and it seems that there are settings in it to accomplish some of the things you are describing (again if I am understanding you correctly). I was thinking that the β€œdome” was some special thing/HDRI type.
