Rendering 2d people w/toon material question

Hello all,
I'm trying to render 2d silhouette people w/the lines showing, I can only get the outline to show up, is there a way to have the inner-lines render that show the arms etc.; even with the toon material, the lines are not showing up.Would certainly appreciate any advice.

What rendering engine are you using?
I use Thearender and it allows for the lines from Sketchup to merge with the rendering. There are times I only want the lines for certain elements, so I composite different renderings in a photo editor to get the results I'm looking for.
