Hi, this is a very noobish question. Whenever I try to paint the surface of something, everything around it is getting painted the same color. The object I am trying to paint isn't even touching the surrounding figures. What am I doing wrong? How do I separate this?

Make sure there are no gaps in any of the edges/faces of the object you are trying to paint. Also make sure you are selecting the face of the object you are trying to paint.
