Bug Splat on Editing Comps or Groups
-
Dear Wizards of Smart: I am having a 2020 problem. I just installed 20 for the first time this week and on using it on of my models, it seems that everytime I edit a component or group it splate on closing that C or G. is it a path problem? or a problem with the model itself? (updated from 19)
any thoughts on this?
Thx,
D

Did you install SketchUp in the proper way ?
I'm assuming you're on a PC ?
Then you can try a 'Repair'...
While logged into your normal Windows user-account, ensure that SketchUp is closed.
Find its installer's exe file - usually in your Downloads folder ?
Select the installer's exe file icon and right-click > context-menu > "Run as administrator"
When prompted choose "Repair".
This will reset file and folder permissions properly.
Any complex app's installer should run that way, double-clicking its icon to 'Run' it is not the same, even if your user-account has admin-powers...If the problem continues then we need to consider some other possibilities...
Are you working on a 'local' model or a network/cloud saved version ?
Have you tried disabling Preferences > AutoSave ?
Have you looked at your Preferences > OpenGL settings ? -
Thanks TIG.
I think i installed correctly, but you never can tell with me. . .
I will walk thru the "Administrator" stuff as per your suggestion.

**EDIT:**This just in. . .
None of those suggestions solved the problem. So I will probably need to do a reinstall. Cr@p.
it seems to be something with the right-click context menu. I dunno.

UPDATE this a chronic problem with the right mouse button click to save changes to componenent or group edit.I have done 2 installs, but when I uninstalled I guess it didnt do a complete uninstall because with the new install, the extensions prefernces and such that I had loaded came back rather than a fresh out of the box do-over. which if or the most part okay cuz I dont like re-loading all of that stuff. Funny. . .This was working fine yesterday, and I am not sure if I have a conflict with an extension. I hadn't loaded that many. Just enough to get me up and running in 2020.
I unstialled most of them other than the "commercial" ones, etc.
I dunno. If anybody out there has some ideas, I'd be grateful.
