Housebuilder
-
Hello,
I am a newby and am trying to download and install a US version of Housebuilder extension. The only link that I could find in the forum is a copy that is unsigned and my 2017 Make Sketchup will not install it. Can someone help me find a good file to download or tell me how I can use the one I have? Thank you! -
The fact that an Extension's RBZ is not 'signed' is NOT a reason for you never to use it.
Older RBZ files are often unsigned because they haven't been changed since the current signing-regime came in.
So if you have got an RBZ from "a reliable source" then its 'signed' status is somewhat academic.
Your Extension Manager Extension-Loading-Policy can be set to 'Unrestricted' - then it can be installed and load...For the avoidance of doubt, the two current 'Housebuilder' toolsets [metric/imperial] are linked in this post here.

Thank you for your prompt response! The RBZ file I attempted to use came from the exact source you suggested. My Extension Manager Extension-Loading-Policy is set to 'Unrestricted', and when I click on Install Extension it just sits there. I did get it to show up in the Extension Manager one time, but it never showed up under the extensions tab and no tools. I am using Sketchup 2017 Make on my Mac. Do you have any further suggestions or perhaps know of another similar extension which is free or at reasonable price? I'm just a newby trying to learn what appears to be a great program.
Thank you! -
You will learn far more about using Sketchup by NOT installing housebuilder. That is simply an extension that does all the work for you, and not very well in my opinion. If you want to learn to use Sketchup and build a house, start with getting to understand the fundamentals, then ask specifics when you get stuck.

Sounds like sage advice..thank you!
