Export sketchup to 3ds max issue
-
hi!
I have a problem since a long time... everytime I make something on sketchup, when I import it on 3ds max, I can't apply a texture! I try to import it on substance painter and it make a weird thing... and it's impossible to apply a material!
I try to
- export in obj, fbx,
- import on 3ds max and make an uv unwrap
- import on zbrush and do the same
- use the auto reverse face from fredotools to have normals on the right side
here is on mesh I do with sketchup 2017, could you tell me how I can use sketchup model properly on other soft?
Thanks!

Sorry, no.

Apply texture in SketchUp itself, then open skp file in Max, then swap mats as you like

'Save as' sketchup file back to a version 8 file, then import to Max. In material editor, use eyedropper to bring up the multi-sub material in slate editor. you can then swap out/edit the materials. (I would recommend grouping your geometry in sketchup instead of loose geometry.)
You can also export .3ds from sketchup and choose 'by material' under export options. Things with the same material will be grouped. You can follow same procedure and swap out materials.
Of course in both cases you'll need to add a UVW modifier.
