Paint Creating New Duplicate Material
-
When I try to apply an existing custom material (already in the model) to an object, it often creates a new unwanted copy of that material.
I have tried multiple approaches (applying to a material-less object, applying to a group or single object, etc.) to no avail. The error also occurs in various models, but always an existing file and not a new model.
The only thing I have found that works is to rename the existing material, then paint the object - which is obviously not an optimum way to work.
Thanks!

SU 2018 Pro (this error has happened in multiple versions) -
This is a known bug and the development team has been working on a solution.
I'm not sure if it was addressed in the new release of SU2018 for Mac but if you haven't updated, yet, you should anyhow. The update was released to make changes for Mojave.

I've found that it's an issue with V-Ray - most likely in how it manages materials (vs. SU).
I've disabled V-Ray for the time being and things are working fine.

Very good. I would suggest reporting it to the Vray folks. Maybe they should fix it.
