Hi. Is there a way to export 3ds Max instances and import them as components in sketchup? I used Simlab Sketchup Exporter, and find out some instances imports as components but most of them not. Can anyone help please?

Yes rv1974. I like simlab too. It's really good at converting models from 3ds Max to Sketchup. But I have problem with instances. For example I want to convert a 3ds max tree model to sketchup model. In 3ds Max all the leaves are instances and editing them are easy. But aftar converting it with simlab to sketchup file, each leaves convert as single group, not component. Now my question is "Is there any way to export 3ds Max instances as Sketchup components?"

In Max I convert all materials to standard materials and export as obj then I use SIM lab to save it as skp. I think I get components through ok that way. At least I havent noticed anything but it was some time since I converted anything so I might be wrong.

Hi Pixero! Yes I convert all materials to standard materials too. And now I tried converting OBJ format to skp in simlab composer. it did a good job and everything is fine! all instances are components in Sketchup format. Thanks for the pro tips! πŸ‘
