Any chance to fix this .skp-file?
-
Hey everybody,
I have 7 .skp files, I can't open anymore. I attached one of them. They all show the same error (It doesn't seem to be a sketchup model).
They look fine, but won't open with any SketchUp-Version or other programm I have, that can handle .skp files.
They were saved directly on an usb-drive with SketchUp 8 on a Windows 7 PC.
Never had any issues of this kind.
I attached one of the files. Best would be, to be able to open them again. Alternativly a preview of the content would be enough.
It's very important to me, to be able to restore these files.
Can anybody help?Thanks in advance

Do you have an idea about the source of the problem? Where did you save the files (USB-stick, network path, ...)? Are there skb-files in that folder too?

Hi cotty,
I saved it on an usb-stick. I still have this stick with the files on it for any further tests.
There is no other version of the filesupdate: i testet the usb-drive once again. saved a file from sketchup to the drive. and the file is corrupt as well..
any chances to recover it?

The files were saved on an USB-Stick.
There are some .skb as well. But they show the same error.i testet the usb-drive once again. saved a file from sketchup to the drive. and the file is corrupt as well…
so no chance?

The uploaded 'SKP' is not a SketchUp file.
There's not even a header.
It's simply padded with empty binary data.
It's 100% foobar !Did you have a copy saved anywhere else ?
Having just one version of any important document is inviting for problems, sooner or later you'll lose data. -
Maybe you can try some file recovery softwares or repair the usb drive and be lucky that this repairs these files too?

if older revisions or backup files (.SKB) do exist, you may want try to recover them by using the capable "GetDataBack" recovery software (trial avail.).
Don't write anything further to the thumb drive to avoid damaging hidden instances of the required files.
