This is one of my 'draped' roof designs. The roof is curved and the eaves have a drape, actually the whole roof has a compound curve, and each rafter has its own unique shape depending where it sits.
These draped roofs are my own unique design I export a dxf of each rafter then have a CNC shop cut them, so everything fits perfectly We chop out the post and beam joinery in my shop. http://woodsshop.com/Gazebo_Kits/Gazebo_Kit.htm
The posts, beams, all the roof parts and even the skip sheathing are all clear kiln dried western red cedar, one of the best outdoor woods and it looks pretty nice too!
does Alan Fraser still post here?? I think of him every time I use his people

A very striking design, and beautifully executed.

Very nice piece.

Wow thats really cool, love finding woodwork sketchup workflow. Do you design everything by hand then move into Sketchup or do you use Sketchup for the original measurements?
-
I do it all with SUp's native tools Liam, I never was good at drawing, that's why I found and then started using SUp starting with version 3
-
Wow! What kind of framing square do you use to lay those out? Is it curved?
With a SU model a CNC machine would be helpful! -

Tadema is right - great stuff - and then to see in real life as to see on your web site -
So here it is all finished

We also installed a small torii built with half-lap construction. I really like the finish we used, not too red like most torii.

Nice work, Joe. Thanks for sharing it.
