      I am learning how to use SKETCHUP.
      I am unable to move a component of a model up and down.
      It's the up - down axis, I believe.
      Need help.

          If the [imported] component has gluing/cutting behavior set, then that means any instance of it will "stick" it onto the first face you applied it onto.
          If you select such an instance, right-click > context > unglue...
          It can then be moved independently of its initial connected face...
