AMD Ryzen CPUs / Rendering
-
Hi All
I’m glad that there returned some little movement into the CPU market again, since AMD came back
with it´s Ryzen CPUs. In addition to a more moderate pricing, their performance also seems to be very promising as well (for example: AMD Ryzen 7 1800x (8 Cores, 16 Threads / 3.6GHz)).Since the performance of various render tools (such as Shaderlight or Render[IN] for example) is depending on CPU speed and it´s number of cores also of course, I wonder if someone has made any experiences with these AMD CPUs so far?

Best thing I bought in a while, Got the Ryzen 1800x and 2x 1080ti GPU's, kicking ass.
I use Thea for rendering so I get to use both GPU's and 16 Threads together, super fast.

Thanks Solo

Hi All
meanwhile the first (and only?) notebook (Asus ROG GL702ZC) is on the market, which is fired by an AMD Ryzen7 CPU - I think, that 8 cores (16 threads) should a solid basis for all SkUp tasks and rendering? Besides the AMD CPU also the GPU is an AMD model of course: AMD Radeon RX580 graphics.
Here are some further informations about the Notebook I´m talking about

What do you think about it - are there any problems to be expected with AMD, especially regarding the GPU? I look forward to any experience or opinion from you
PS: my previous notebook seems to have stopped working, I hope that it is the power supply only but I fear that a new purchase is more likely

My only concern is how the AMD GPU plays with SU and if you are using any GPU based render engines that only work off Nvidia's CUDA based GPU's.

Not a single game on any of my machines, who has time to play?
