How can I select all instances of a given component? I'm thinking of something like AutoCAD where you can select a block, right-click, and Select Similar.

In the components palette, context click on the component definition.

        Best,
        Jason.

I create video tutorial series about several 2D & 3D graphics programs.

Thomthom's Selection Toys adds that same feature when right click within the workspace. I find it a few milliseconds faster

Download the free D'oh Book for SketchUp 📖

I often want to do this with text—to select all the call-outs that I've added at the same time in order to transfer them to a new layer. There's a bit of an indirect way built-in to SketchUp to do this:
Window > Model Info > Select All Leader Text > Close dialog box and do what you want with the selection
This is built in so that you can change the font on all your text at the same time.
