Sharing model with client
-
Hello everyone
I want to share a model with my client. They're not really the end user, but they did commission it for the builder's use and he wants to be able to "play" with it. I'm trying to figure out how to give him the file to open in a template that would have just the viewing tools in the toolbar at the top - orbit, pan, zoom, tape measure and maybe section tools. I basically want to "hide" the drawing and move tools from the toolbar of the file I send him so he can't get into too much trouble navigating through the model. SU Viewer would be a good option if it only allowed the ability to control layer visibility. But, it doesn't. In addition, I have the cross over challenges (if any) from my system on a Mac to his Windows.
Any ideas or suggestions are very much appreciated.
Thanks!
Bob

The toolbar display state is not part of the template. The toolbar display is entirely separate from the template you use and you can't do anything but suggest that he close all but the Camera toolbar. Or tell him to install the viewer instead. The viewer doesn't have any drawing or other editing tools.

Personally, I'm always super careful to supply the actual models / CAD files to work as it may lead to unintended use thereof.
I have not tried this myself before, but have you looked into supplying a 3D PDF? There is a banner on the forum advertising such a product...

There is a plugin that ruins the model without looking like it's ruined. It triangulates it and moves every vertex a tiny bit around randomly so a pushpull can no longer be performed or every edge is out of place just enough that moving is awkward and it renders the model useless for anything else but display and measure.
That might be handy on those scenarios:
