        You nailed it. I'd play more with the contrast though. Either it's my monitor or the image is a bit dark.

        An easy way to do it is in Blender Compositor and add a Color Balance and Lens Distortion setup.

        Lens distortion adds that chromatic aberration effect at the periphery. Not really needed but gives the image an extra level of detail.

          Thanks for the comment Rich. I understand what you mean, but i liked the moody shadow. I could have positioned the sun behind the camera for more illumination of the trees. I also used volumetric fog which mean't a little detail was lost.

            I agree with chedda the darkness adds an extra depth of "unseen" to the image. I would randomize vertical direction a bit though it's too vertical for all trees imho, that's the only think giving it away for me.

              fantastic! I agree the trees could use a little more variation, but I like the feel of the lower contrast in the image.

                    Very real feeling. Kayak viewpoint. Reminds me of views of Point Reyes.

                    photo with a different feel, but would be similar at dusk.
