    Im just wondering how i can make objects invisible from my camera and have its reflection visible in the render. Do we have it in Vray for SU?

    Here's what I have. In a small room,my camera is pushed out of the room to cover the whole scene I want to show. It is facing a very glossy surface. I need the wall to be hidden from camera so my view can penetrate it but this wall's reflection be visible in the glossy material.

    If I hide the object from SU itself, then it will not be also be visible in the refection.

    if not possible?, Any known workaround ?

      Have a look into the 2 sided materials that VRay offers.

      I believe you can have one side as your wall and the camera side and transparent.

        Yes, as suggested above. You need to the use the SketchUp 2-sided, not the Vray 2 sided material. One side gets a 100% transparent material and the other side get's what you want to reflect. This method is mostly used for 3D floor plan renders where you want to have the ceiling off but do not want the sun and GI to spill in from the opening.

          thanks guys, works well to contain my lighting inside and keeps the light outside from coming in (which usually washes out the colors). But Since my camera is facing a high gloss back painted glass, it has to reflect the opposite side, which is now just plain white. What if there are columns, wall arts and accesories?

          It can be 2 sided material in vray or just a face with 2 materials applied on front and back side, one being full transparent and one opaque.

            Sorry to bother guys, I tried making and invisible ceiling that casts shadows with the Sketchup Two Sided Material but it doesn't work.

              We need a little more information than that. Can you post a screenshot of your material settings?

                  With thea render there is a option called z clip. I think that will solve your problem.

                    Thanks for the tip, however this is the VRAY forum not the Thea forum and the last post is over a year old.
