    Practice.

Based on photos of a piece from the early 20th Century.

Belissima! I'm glad I don't have to shape that door.
      Best,

        Fantastic - as usual...
But how does that top-drawer actually "work" ?
        Guides, runners, luck etc ??

          Thank you, gentlemen.

TIG, I didn't have any photos showing the cabinet without the drawer so I don't have all the details but I'm thinking luck has a lot to do with it. There are guides on the sides to prevent the drawer from seating in crooked. They just don't show in the drawing. I can imagine a runner under the center of the drawer as a guide but I don't know if it's there. The drawer is basically trapped between the top and the panel underneath.

I think that drawer would be more work to make than it is worth.

I would have use a single diagonal guide.
Perhaps a 'dovetail' rail with a matching 'track' inset into the drawer's base ?

            Anyway, it was an 'aside'...
            A wonderful model [as usual].

              Thank you, sir.

I had thought it could be hinged like the door.
