Heads Up for SU8/SU2013 Users from SU Warehouse
-
No more downloads as of Jan 2017
-
Is it possible to move this to Sketchup Materials,Components & Styles? Probably not too many Newbies using SU8 somehow.
(Thought I'd created it there.)
-Thanks- -
That's good news. Backwards compatibility is a pain to maintain.
Although there's not much compatability issues with file types they need to get users onto more current versions. v8 is pretty old now. Time to put on some new shoes

Just for curiosity's sake-is there a way to quickly filter SketchUcation data to see how many are using which version of Sketchup currently?
-
What about the users that don't bother updating their profiles?
FYI - all my plugins still work in all versions of Sketchup since SU 7.
In 10's of thousand lines of code there are surprisingly few lines that need to worry about versions. There is only one feature that I ignore if the version is too old and I need to handle versions in one other spot. That's all. Also my web dialogs work fine in all versions - biggest issue was supporting both Windows and Mac.

I would have thought the warehouse keeps models as the latest version and has a program the converts the download to the requested format / version "on the fly".

I suppose we could check and see but it wouldn't be a reliable result.

Doesn't the Plugin store collect version info?
-
It does on a per plugin level and that info is not exposed anywhere other than to manage the bundles.
Even the dashboard for authors doesn't list it which is where you think it would be of value.
I know Gabor added it for the API so authors could query from within their code but we don't collate to see who's using what on what version.
Fredo is probably the most active in utilizing the API in his tools.
