SketchUp for Video Games
-
Hi, I really love using SketchUcation but I have two big problems with this SketchUp, I was hoping if someone can help me!
1-Is there any extension for video games? I have problems dealing with nasty triangles whenever I export my model to another program like Modo, I don't get quads! and I have to retopologize my models again! or completely forget about using SketchUp!
2-Is there any way to avoid snapping in SketchUp and get a similar move/ rotation like Maya? I have problems dealing with curves it's really hard to create tubes, curves in more random, organic shapes!
I saw an extension called SubD which is cool! but I don't want to do SubD modeling inside SketchUp If I wanted I would use other programs like Modo which is really great at it! instead, I want to use the fast features for modeling inside SketchUp and yet be able to export my model as quads in another program like Modo and start unwrapping...If SketchUp team create an Auto-Retopology feature or something that let you have quads for your exported models, it will save my life!
Thanks.

PlayUp will export your SketchUp model to certain game engines.
BlendUp will export your SketchUp model to Blender, you can use it then with Blender Game Engine or export it again from there.

All quad models contains tris. It's the engine in the app that detects the face as a quad.
If you follow the quadface convention in SU and export with Thomthoms QuadFace Obj exporter you'll bypass the tri issue.

It's maybe just that modo has not a perfect skp importer!
Nah I tried Maya, 3ds Max, still nasty triangles no quads.
