Sketchup tools or plugins for simple 2d animation

Hi ,,.i was wondering while watching my kid browsing the net, when will sketchup have a quick 2d animation tools to achieve a simple animation like this below:

can somebody help me through the process and techniques used, or if i am missing some or new sketchup features/plugins?

Although most of this could be accomplished withou any plugins via scenes and layers, there are some plugins designed for 3D that could make life a little easier. One I would suggest you take a look at is Keyframe Animation. There are others in that arena that could help as well.

Here's a 2D animation done in Sketchup a number of years ago without any plugins.

One of the cool things about doing 2D animations in SketchUp is you can use the 3D space so some objects can easily pass in front of others.
