Hi all, I'm new here πŸ˜„

I have a kitchen and I want another sink. I want to subtract my sink so that the hole is placed.
But Sketchup keeps saying that the components are not solids. Anyone who can help?

Create a box with the shape you want the hole to have. Make a group or componente from it. Dive it into the counter. Subtract the box to the countertop. The hole is created.

A box turned into a component/group is a solid. A sink and a countertop, might or not be solids. If it is a solid you can use Solid tools.

Search for info on Sketchup Solids and then search for a plugin called Solid Inspector.

Only if you are a lucky owner of the Pro version (it's your case) else you must make the boolean operation by hand! πŸ˜„

in your skp, the top is not a 'solid' because it has no bottom, it's just a skin...
the sink is also a skin...
if you add thickness correctly to the 'top' it becomes a solid...
then select the new 'bottom' surface, right click > intersect with model, you will get the circle of the sink showing...
use the 'scale tool' to increase it's diameter a touch, then push/pull to the top surface creating a hole...

learn from the mistakes of others, you may not live long enough to make them all yourself...

As has been said... you need solids to 'subtract'.

However, the fix in this case is easier still...

Select the top and edit it.
Select the top face and use Context-menu > Intersect > with Model.
The sink now cuts a 'ring' in the top.
Select the top's face inside the sink and <delete>

              Done. πŸ˜„

The sink now has a matching hole in the top...
