Hi everyone...I'm using Sketchup 8 pro and find it bit slow than version 7. Is anyone having the same experience as mine..??..Is there any solution to speed up this 8 version?

You might try unloading all your plugins for a while. I have seen quite a few other reports, and so far all of them have been tied to sdome plugins that are drastically slowing down 8.

Hopefully that will fix it. If it does, you will probably want to figure out which plugin is doing the damage.

Hopefully that will help. Let us know how it goes,

      Chris

Or could it be that your fresh installed SU8 hasn't got hardware acceleration activated? I find SU to not always pick the correct OpenGL mode...

can you tell me which plugins have been known so far in slowing down sketchup?

I just had a issue where SU8 would be very slow. After uninstalling SU8 and installing again everything works fine and snappy.

              Hi guys,

In our labs, SU8 renders significantly faster than SU7 and about the same as SU7.1. YMMV, depending what you're paying attention to in performance terms. Perceived performance turns out to be surprisingly subjective and often has as much to do with the last model you opened in SketchUp (and your performance experience with it at that time) as it does with the actual raw performance of the system.

Also, SketchUp performance appears inversely proportional to the amount of time left before an important deadline πŸ˜‰

a joke might not be sufficient to explain the situation i am experiencing

on my computer, SU15 64 bits is even slower than all previous versions

and no plugin can be accused, since there are hardly any in the SU15 plugin folder

                      I'm definitely experiencing the contrary...
I.e. Opening or saving a big file is super fast with SU2015 64-bit...

Where/when are you experiencing a slow down??

                      Cheers

maybe if you could share some specs about your computer and the kind of sketchup file (statistics) people could help

                          OK

I agree, it depends upon what you are paying attention to

plugins using ruby lines of code moving components, or screening of special types of components among all objects in the model, seem to be much slower on sketchup 15 compared to sketchup 8

but i noticed that all that is related to showing the model on screen is much faster on sketchup 15 compared to sketchup 8

so i guess some choices have been made to allow more memory to this and less to that

Do you have code examples with timing to demonstrate this?
