[Plugin] Materials from List - TIGmatlist
-
@TIG:
On behalf of the seven downloaders, I want to thank you for your generosity in providing your ideas to the Sketchup community. -
Not sure I get it. Does it replace one material with another entirely?

It's a simple tool written in response to a MAC user's plea.
MAC users don't get a simple 'list material by name' option in the 'Material Browser' - unlike PC users who do [so this tool is somewhat 'redundant' for most PC users!].
But if you are on a MAC, and you want to be able to see a list of the model's materials sorted 'by name', then this tool does it for you.
It defaults to the model's current material.
You can selected any material off the list and press OK.
That then becomes the current material.
The Paintbucket tool is activated, using that material...My 'Global Material Changer' tool does do what was suggested...

Thank you TIG! I also find the materials a hassle on the Mac. I'll give this a try.

I know it has been 7 years since the last comment here and 10 years from the first but it seems that this obvious problem with Mac Colors goes unfixed. I am using SU 21 on an M1 Mac and believe it or not most of the bugs with all software is about over. I would be happy to donate to the cause if this plugin would work on my machine. Only having Icons to pick materials from is hideous, and so I am anxious to use this great extension. I have successfully loaded it into SU 21 and it shows in the extension manager, however it does not show in the dropdown extensions menu nor do I see a change in the color Palette. Am I missing something?

It appears under the Tools menu...
As is explained in the first post in this thread, and its usage notes in its PluginStore entry...
