How to Speed up Set up time for rendering?
-
hi you all, i think the time i spend setting up a scene is too long. that is i put a lot of models into a interior room scene in my case. bringing in book models, display items, glass wares etc all the interior models that will enhance an interior rendering. But the set up time is too slow for me in sketchup!! i think its my prboem.
please help if you have any tips of speeding up the process. thanks in advance. -
Why don't you set up a room with the books and other furniture and just add your latest model to it? Think of it as putting your model in a set rather than building a set around your model.

That will help too.
One problem I want to address is to move models quickly to
A specific point(vertex which has xyz values )
Sketchup s reference or inference move snap tool
Is good but too Slow!!!
If I can select a point then my selected model can snapped to that point that will be great.
I don't want to manually move the model. Just select a point then the model I wanted to
Move then push a button, the model will be moved or snapped to that point
In space.
Please help if you know a plugin or write that plugin
For us. I think a lot of people need that useage.thanks -
If you know the coordinates of the destination point you can move a selected point in the moving object to it by entering it. No plugin needed. Take some time to read the help files and search for 'coordinates.'
If you make components properly you can just drop them in where you need them rather than trying to move them into place.

hi, i used text tool to find out the coordinates by double clicking the point.
then i moved the model to activate the move process. i clicked in the viewport randomly then enter the xyz values.
it say invalid length. can you all walk me through this seemingly simple process, tell me if im doing anything wrong??i recorded how i did wrong in this video:

Use precise values instead of approximate ones. Don't click in VCB. Start the move and type the coordinates as [x,y,z].
Read the help files on coordinates. The Text tool shows absolute coordinates so those are what you need to enter to get the move to occur properly, not relative coordinates as your video showed you used.

thanks. it worked. i thought i could copy and past the values in.

this might be a little off topic here. but I recently found out the jfmoveit script is the best script for moving objects!
