Re-Link Selected Viewport(s) Only
-
Would be nice if you could select a single viewport and Re-Link that viewport only, or select several and do same. (maybe you can and I missed it?)
Currently I save a copy of my LO file and Re-Link to another SU file...and then copy the desired viewport(s) and paste.
Most of the time I Re-Link to a saved copy of the same SU file as the client wants to see different color schemes and I find it easier to just save a copy and change textures/colors/etc. This preserves same scenes/etc. in SU and same viewports/ scales/etc. in LO.
Other times it is because the revisions get numerous enough that maintaing one SU file with the Existing/New via layers gets cumbersome and I simply save out a SU Existing File and Resort to version(s) with revisions.
Anyhow...I find myself thinking if I could just Re-Link certain viewports my life would be a bit easier.
Thanks,

You could explode those viewports that won't get updated later.

Dave,
Thanks.....and that is true.....but I would have to Re-Link first before exploding...but even then....why explode?Guess there isn't any way roght now in LO to do what I ask?

Your way seems to be the one way. Even if you have references for both SU files, a viewport only knows about one of those.... An option would need to be added in the SketchUp Model window under View: Source File, where one could choose a different file (already referenced) or browse for a new file.

I like that (Source File Option).....and as you point out....no matter how many models appear in the reference list....individual LO viewports cannot be made "unique" or "in LO file" references exchanged viewport to viewport.....maybe this needs to go into the wish list/feature request thread.
IE: Context click on LO Viewport....dropdown option from "in" file reference files...or add new/browse.

make a copy of the drawing.
relink the model in the copy.
delete the viewports you do not want in the original.
copy and paste the viewports from the copy into the original.not elegant, but it should update when you change the models.
