I have a project that I did in Sketchup 2013 that when I open it in 2014 all of the materials are screwed up. I had used .jpegs for some of the surfaces as a texture and they are gone, replaced by another random texture. It opens and saves in 2013 just fine, all materials intact. Other materials besides the .jpeg versions are affected too.

I would finish it in 2013 but, I have V-ray installed in 2014.

Any ideas? I was under the impression that you could open a file in a newer version of Sketchup without these issues.

I did merge the two material files (2013 to 2014) in an effort to see if that would work, no change.

      Thanks,

I ended up exporting the file as a .dae and importing it into 2014. Seemed to have worked fine.

Still would like to find a way for it to work .skp to .skp.

normally yes, do you have installed on a drive other than "C:" or does your user name contain special characters?

try to copy and paste form SU13 to SU14.

I am using a small SSD drive for the operating system and all programs are installed on another drive. Never had any problems running any other software the same way? Possible I guess.

The initially released version of SketchUp 2014 for PCs, was found to have an issue if the SKP was opened from a drive which wasn't the same [system] drive on which SketchUp.exe and its related Tools folder was installed. It also unexpectedly had other issues with reading Plugins folders when there were accented characters or single quotes in your User name.

A new updated version is available from the Trimble download site - it addresses those issues.
So if you get/install that and still have these problems then maybe we need to look deeper...
