Forests are to be created by dropping millions of trees out of aircraft. Equipment installed in the huge C-130 transport aircraft used by the military for laying carpets of landmines across combat zones has been adapted to deposit the trees in remote areas including parts of Scotland.

Reminds me of a 3D animation I saw years ago where an alien plant hurls a seed into space. The seed finds another planet and starts the cycle over again. I tried to find it without any luck.

that probably already happens anyway.. though maybe in a more boring / less storied fashioned..
planet with plants freezes.. drifts into another object.. breaks into a bunch of pieces.. those pieces become asteroids/comets to other planets.. species -or- basis of species is transferred.
(+ thousands of other scenarios in which the gist of that could occur) -

When I opened that article my eyes automatically flicked to the date area - 'cause this would (normally) be prime April 1st territory.

Weirdly, when I stayed in rural France a good few years back Cannabis plants were widespread in the hedgerows.
It seems the local hippy commune had spent some weeks driving around throwing paper bags of soil and seeds into the roadside areas In order to give them an untraceable supplyNot that I would of course condone any such criminal behavior
