Vray crashing on render
-
Hey guys, I'm new to the forum and I know that this is an old topic and has many answers but, even using the search, none of them could help me to solve my problem.
I'm using VRay 2.0 and Sketchup 2013 and I'm trying to render a medium size file (around 25mb) in a high output quality (3000x2250) but everytime it crashes. I know sketchup is a 32 bit program and it uses only 3.5gb of ram.
I already tried to purge my model (lines, faces, materials...), to render in .VRimg .EXR and .hdr (with and without the preview window) and it keeps crashing.
If it is usefull:
My system: Intel Core i7 3632QM @ 2.2Ghz, 8Gb DDR3 Ram, AMD Radeon 7730M 2Gb and Windows 8P.S.: If you need any other information just ask and I'll provide it. Thanks

2 things to try
-
Increase you Dynamic Memory limit
-
Try rendering using 64 bit using the local Spawner technique.
(Are you using displacement? Proxies?) A 25MB file should not be crashing. I have rendered 100MB files in 2.0 on 2013 with similiar machine specs no problem.

Yes, I'm using vegetation proxies and some displacement in the road and grass but it's not too much, like 2 or 3 materials. I'll try the local spawner technique and then I'll post the results. Thanks!

File size is misleading. I've had a 10kb file run out of memory. SketchUp stores texture information in the scene, compresses some things, doesn't compress other things. Don't worry about the file size, that's not the issue. Memory usage is all you should need to worry about.

how much ram is being used?

the dynamic memory limit is in place, to avoid using too much memory while rendering dynamic geometry (displacement, proxies, etc). Raising this value is going to give V-Ray the green light to use MORE ram, not less...

Here's a link to what Valerostudio is talking about:

The local spawner technique worked very well, thanks again for your help, saved my render

good to hear, would love to see the final result if you can share!
