The Improved Warehouse for 2014
-
A quick question if I may?
I realize that Trimble's 3Dwarehouse has undergone some pretty extensive updates and overhauls for 2014, and I would like to know this?
What has happened to the Model Editing feature to the warehouse? It used to be a simple matter for hobbyist modelers such as myself to poke at a project slowly over time, when life permits, and again over time, update our models without affecting the collections which said model resided in.
Now I find however that on the surface of things, the model editing feature has been removed, so would that mean any updates to a model I wish to perform entail deleting my older version, upload the newer, and hope whatever collection the model was a part of would be picked up on again by the person(s) responsible for collecting my model in the first place? I'm sorry but this isn't entirely acceptable!
Let's take an example of this.. Let's say I've made a model some time ago, two years maybe, a model that seems to be rather popular and one that is a replica of a rather well known space ship... Now let's say I've done some improvements to the model since last I've posted or updated it now that my skills as a hobbyist artisan have improved.. If the editing feature no longer exists, does this mean I must delete my well received replica from the warehouse, upload my updated version, and hope those who collected my replica initially will again choose my newer update and re-add it to their collection?
This is looking more and more of a TOTAL HEADACHE, and I'm sure I'm not the only hobbyist artist who feels this way?
Any speculation as to whether or not Trimble will reintroduce the model editing features back to the warehouse, or is this simply wishful thinking?
Thank you for any feedback on this matter.

The edit feature has been discontinued for now. As has the ratings.
To build something new you have to start again.
Considering the sheer volume of work needed to migrate everyone's content to a new platform the SU team should be congratulated.
I'd imagine the most used and useful features got ported across initially.
I'd try the SU forums for official response on whether the edit feature will return.

Models in the 3D Warehouse have a unique ID number. This number did not change after the google to trimble buy-out.
If you download the model from the 3DW, edit it, then re-share it then the edited model will replace the current model in the 3D Warehouse. The upload window will show the original model title and description.
You can also manually change this ID number in a model to force it to over-write another of your models in the 3DW.

Thank you for clearing that up, Jim!
I was hesitant to do any updating to my older models since I felt there was a chance the update feature, being gone, would mean I'd have to use that process I've described above, and I feared the collections my replica was a part of may not pick up on my update.
I suppose then that this question and issue can be considered resolved.
Best regards to you, and to all,

I can't log into the Warehouse anymore with my main browser (Cyberfox, a 64bit Firefox variant), however, with Chrome it works. I just get a screen with three rotating circles and different symbols, and then the ruby symbol stops rotating and I get redirected to the warehouse without being signed in. With Chrome, the ruby symbol and the right sketchup symbol stop spinning, then I get signed in. Does anyone have an idea what could cause this? Most likely it has nothing to do with add-ons, since I can't sign in in safe mode as well.
