Tool Bars in SU 2014 Question
-
In my experience, when I mouse over the left end of the toolbar after mounting it at the top, there is a 4 way cross tooltip similar to the emblem with the Move tool. And I move it at that point. If the toolbar is floating I click drag it into place. You can drag them left to right or move them up and down, but they seem to jump into their new slot.
Or, is this not what you guys are talking about? -
I think I get what your problem is. A large toolbar when docked can join another toolbar and push it out of the way. Toolbars don't wrap, in other words if your screen is too small for the toolbar it won't compress it or double layer it it will just go off screen.
When you dock you can drag the bars around to get what you want, if you drag slowly up, first the bar will join what is there, then as you drag further it will make it's own line.
Here's a quick vid. This is 2013 but it's the same.

Thanks Box. That helped a lot. I got it now.
And thanks to everyone else for your help. -
I will piggy back on to this thread as my question / complaint is similar. I can't dock my Large Tool Set toolbar. I dragged it away from the side to put it up on top and it won't dock on the top, it won't dock back where it came from on the left side, won't do it on the right side. Not sure what to do. I use 2 monitors and often have a number of programs opened. The toolbar is free of SU floating all over the place.
Any thoughts? Advice? Thanks in advance.

The large toolset won't dock at the top. It will dock on the sides in the same way as shown in my video. One of the simple tricks that people don't know is that a double click on the title bar of the toolbar will put it back to the last place it was docked.

I think I've asked this of you before but would you please complete your profile with OS and SU version? I guess we know the SU version.
I haven't had any difficulty docking that Large Tool Set toolbar on the left side but you do kind of have to stab it at the side like you mean it. Try making the SketchUp window a little smaller than the screen so you are certain you've got the edge of the window fully displayed. The nice thing with SU2013 and 2014 is that you can resize the drawing window without screwing up the toolbars across the top.
You can see in this video I have the large toolset docked on the left edge of the screen.

Thanks - the double clicking trick did it. I couldn't make it dock otherwise.
Apologies for the profile issue. I thought I did fill it out when you last asked. Apparently not.
Whatever. I filled out the profile but I'll admit that I lied - for Interests I put Wine Woman and Song but the truth is I don't Drink (but at one time I did, oh yes I did), I'm too old to look at a Woman younger than Social Security age and as far as Song goes, my singing is not something you or anyone else should ever be subjected to.
Thanks again for the tip.

I won't tell anyone about the wine, women or song. It'll just be our secret.
So did you get that toolbar docked on the left? Make sure you're holding your mouth right, too.

Rather than open a new topic, I figured I'd ask this question here....
Has anyone lost the Plugins folder in SU 2014....?
Mine doesn't exist...!....well I can't find it anyway.

Gareth, it's been talked about a lot around here and migrating your plugins is not a good idea for this incarnation of sketchup. The ruby version has changed and a great many plugins needed to be updated to work with it, some still haven't been updated.
Copying your plugins means you are potentially using out of date plugins that will cause you problems. It is best to start again and load them fresh therefore ensuring that you have the most up to date versions, and you can clean out those plugins that you never really use. It is very easy now with the SketchUcation plugin store, auto install what you need as you need it. Or the Extension warehouse. The few plugins from outside these places can be installed in there own way but be aware they may not yet work with 2014.
